Hyderabad: Extensive workout leads to student’s death

Hyderabad: The demise of a student after post-workout, has led to Massive protests at Nizam College situated at Koti on Thursday.

The deceased identified as P Vijay is alleged to have died while working out in the college gym that did not have an instructor, TOI reports.

The college authorities have denied the allegations said the Police. The students are reported to have burnt the principal’s effigy and demanded justice for the deceased.

The Abids police have registered a case under Section 174 of the CrPC (investigation over unnatural death) and started the investigation.

According to the police, Vijay a native of Nizamabad appeared for his B.sc examination from Nizam College this year but had failed a subject. He was in the city to pay the examination fee for his backlog paper.

“The student was following a strict diet for the last 15 days in order to reduce weight. On Wednesday, he had only two vadas for breakfast and hit the gym in the evening, without eating anything else. After 15-20 minutes of working out with dumbbells, Vijay complained of uneasiness and chest pain. His friends took him to the hostel where he collapsed around 8pm,” said K Laxmaiah, sub-inspector reporting on the crime.

The student was then rushed to a nearby private hospital where he was referred to Apollo hospital at Hyderguda.

“Doctors there declared him brought dead around 8.45pm,” Laxmaiah added.
