Hyderabad: Hotel sealed for running without license

CHANDRAYANGUTTA: A restaurant, which violates norms and was running without a licence from civic authorities, has been sealed by the GHMC officials at Hafeez Baba Nagar.

The action came into light after the accident, in which a teenage girl died. The girl was killed by the RTC bus as she was walking on the road, which was blocked by a log of woods in front of the hotel.

P.Mohan Reddy, GHMC Deputy Commissioner of Chandrayangutta said that the restaurant had failed to follow norms including parking and did not have a license to run it.

“It was sealed as the restaurant had negotiated on the safety of the public by dumping of the timber on the footpath and creating hurdles for traffic,” he added.

It may be mentioned that on Thursday, a 17-year old girl on her way to college was crushed under the rear tyres of the RTC bus. She was forced to come on to the roads as the hotel had disposed logs of wood on the footpath. An RTC bus, being driven in a rash manner, rammed into her from the rear, causing her to trip and fall. The bus’ rear tyres then went over her.

The teenager was identified as Amatur Rahman Munazzah, who was residing in Omer Colony of Hafeez Baba Nagar under Chandrayangutta police station limits died on the spot.

Based on a complaint from Ms Begum (mother of victim), cases were booked against the two men under Section 304 A (death by negligence) of IPC and they were placed under arrest.

Following the accident, the CCTV video footage was shared on social media platforms questioning the authorities over the pedestrian safety in the city.
