Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) are conducting raids to catch up the thieves of water and those who are tampering with meters.
According to TOI reports, in this series, the vigilance officials came across a shocking revelation that some board officials allow the citizens to install illegal connections.
On Friday, while searching an apartment, vigilance sleuths found illegal water connections and the owners told them that the water board officials had provided it by accepting huge money.
“We recorded the statements of the flat owners and sent them to HMWS&SB managing director M Dana Kishore. The matter will be probed and suitable action will be taken against erring staff,” a senior vigilance official told TOI.
The officials disconnected the water supply and registered a case against the property owner under Sections 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease), 430 (mischievously causing a diminution of water supply) and 379 (punishment for theft of water) of the IPC.
