Hyderabad: International call racket busted, two persons held

Hyderabad: In a joint action of Falaknuma Police and Task Force Police, an international call racket was busted and two persons who were cheating the Dept. of Telecommunication were arrested.

According to the details, Mohammed Amjad Khan obtained the SIM cards of Airtel Company from Yousuf Hasan and with the help of these cards, through Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) he was running a racket of international telephone calls.

Inspector of Falaknuma Police Station, Mr K Srinivas Rao informed that the kingpin of this racket Mohammed Amjad Khan got a house in Alibagh of Kalapathar area on rental basis. He set up a VOIP of international calls and by converting ISD calls into local calls, he was running a racket.

Amjad Khan was earning a huge income through this process. After the analysis made by the security wing of the Dept. of Telecom, Mr Ashish Chobh lodged a complaint with the police.

Falaknuma police arrested Amjad Khan and seized 8 SIM boxes, a laptop and other articles. Yousuf Hasan who had sold SIM cards was also arrested.

It is reported that they were running this racket for the past six years. It caused a loss to Govt. exchequer to the tune of Rs. 1.44 crore.
