Hyderabad: IT manager jumps off from fifth floor, cops booked murder case

Hyderabad: On Saturday, a man committed suicide by jumping off the fifth floor of an apartment building on Road No 8 at Banjara Hills.

The victim identified as Shiva Nagaraju (36), who was an IT manager cum technician with an education service provider. While Nagaraju fell to his death from the five-storeyed building, police are not sure if he was pushed.

Police suspect that he could have been murdered as there were multiple injuries. His wrist was slashed and there was a stab wound in the abdomen. There were strangulation marks on his neck also.

“There were a few stab injuries on Nagaraju. We are questioning a few persons associated with Jaro Education. Except Shiva, other colleagues had left the office when the incident happened,’’ said Banjara Hills inspector N Kalinga Rao – TOI report.

While examining the CCTV footage, only the victim can be seen falling from the building as the cameras were switched off at 8.30pm on Friday.

On Friday, Nagaraju called his wife and told that he would be coming late to home. At 8.30 pm she tried to reach him but he did not respond. On Saturday around 4 am, she sent their acquaintance Gautham to look for Nagaraju in his office.

Gautham found Nagaraju dead on the ground floor and alerted cops immediately. The body was shifted to Osmania General Hospital for an autopsy.

Police suspect previous enmity or dispute could have led to the killing of Nagaraju. “We will probe the case from all angles,” Kalinga Rao said. A case was registered under section 302 (murder) of IPC.

The victim, a resident of Hayathnagar, belonged to Krishna district in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.
