Hyderabad: Lifestyle diseases increasing in Old City, many women suffer from “hernia”

Hyderabad: Lifestyle diseases are increasing in the Old City of Hyderabad. Many women are suffering from gynecology-related complications including breast lumps, fibroid uterus and ovarian cysts.

According to the report published in TOI, as per the survey conducted by Helping Hand Foundation (HHF), an NGO, there is an increase in the number of “Hernia” cases in women. Children are suffering from “appendicitis”.

It may be mentioned that this NGO provides Medicare to the poor. While conducting the survey, volunteers of the organization obtained the outpatient records of six area hospitals in the Old City along with Gandhi, Osmania, Niloufer and MNJ Cancer hospitals.

Survey also revealed that patient belonging to Old City prefer government hospitals. A large number of patients belonging to minority community visits area hospitals in Barkas, Shalibanda, King Kothi, Malakpet, Golconda and Nampally.

Speaking on this issue, Managing Trustee of HHF, Mujtaba Hasan Askari told that out of 26 households surveyed in Golconda area, children of 18 households did not get the vaccination. Women are suffering from gynecological complication and “Hernia” whereas, in children, there is an increase in “appendicitis” cases.

He further told that many patients come for treatment of cold, cough and fever etc. Young women report anemia and pregnancy-related complications. Diabetes, hypertension and other lifestyle diseases are common in middle-aged women, TOI reported.

The survey further revealed that there is an increase in the number of chicken pox and mumps cases.
