Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Literary Festival has organised a variety of activities for the young audience. This literary festival is free and open to all. We are delighted to announce the lineup of activities:
NRB – Youngistaan Nukkad
The Nation’s Rock Beat brings the third edition of Youngistaan Nukkad to HLF 2019. The main aim remains the same: to express the aspirations of the youth through an amalgamation of creative art forms. This edition of Youngistaan Nukkad will offer new elements: featured acts, street gallery, and mehfil along with open mic. It will showcase art, dreams, passions, and fun. The major addition this year is live doodling and dance drama. It will also have more students from different colleges participating in the festival. Enjoy the sheer vibrance that will emanate from this exclusive corner of the most happening festival of the city!
The activities include Live Doodling, Open Micm Flashmob, Live Music (by Vivid, Tiwari Brothers and Infinity), A Capella by Hymn, Talent Showcase, Standup Comedy, Street Play, Beatcity, Dance Drama, Theatre Act and Art Gallery.

Paw-Some story time with Sushi-the cuddly dog and 10yr old Krithi Munagala
A fun book event with the 2-year-old Maltese dog and the 10yr old author of Super Sushi Adventures: The Fun Begins. Krithi will share her journey of writing her first book, and give a sneak peek into her next two books in the series. She will read out couple of chapters from her book and talk about the main message in her story, that one is never too small to make a difference and if we all stay united, we can fight anything.
How Do Writers Write? by Andaleeb Wajid
This creative writing workshop will give you a glimpse into the world of a writer while giving you plenty of ideas to get started on your writing as well!
The Little Theatre – Story Reading
The Little Theatre, Hyderabad will be at the NUKKAD during the HLF regaling the young audience with readings of poetry and stories from the ever-popular Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling. Set in a forest in India the Jungle Book features animals such as Sher Khan the tiger, Baloo the bear, and the boy or “man-cub” Mowgli, who is raised in the jungle by wolves. The stories teach respect for authority, obedience, and knowing one’s place in society with “the law of the jungle”, and also illustrate the freedom to move between different worlds, such as when Mowgli moves between the jungle and the village.
The Dot that went for a walk by Reema, Laxmi Nambiar & Sarada Akkineni
The workshop will begin by reading a couple of stories from “Role models have a foundational impact on how children grow up and express their originality”. Through this interactive workshop, we would like each child to identify their own role model/s, identify what traits do they like about them and in their own creative style (short story, poem or artwork) express them on paper. Encourage children to have the same conversation with their parents.

Stories of Hyderabad: A Heritage Walk
A walking tour of the sprawling campus of what was once the “Jagirdars College”, exploring the architecture, natural rock formations and biodiversity, while sharing stories of the city—some myth, some history and some folklore. Occupying the grey area between history and fiction, myths of Hyderabad form the collective narrative heritage of the city. Stories of Quli’s love for Bhagmati, and the mystical intervention of the Sufi saints, Yousufuddin and Sharfuddin in Aurangazeb’s army camp, are part of Hyderabad’s cultural heritage. Many of these stories also exemplify the quintessential “Hyderbadi tehzeeb”—a way of living that is uniquely Hyderabadi. What is this “Hyderabad tehzeeb” and what does it embody? Come, find out on our heritage walk!
