Hyderabad madrasa teacher held for sexually assaulting minor boys

Hyderabad: A native of Bihar and teacher in Hyderabad madrasa has been arrested by Asifnagar police for sexually assaulting his six students for the last three months. Identified as Mohammed Rehan Ansari, he was teaching Arabic and Urdu at the madrasa.

The 23-year-old teacher who belongs to Banaka district and holds a Bachelor of Education degree, had joined the Jamia Ul Uloom Huda (an Islamic school) located in Zeba Bagh locality in July last year, says a report published in Times of India.

“Investigations revealed that the man had been sexually assaulting and having unnatural sex with the boy students at night after threatening to kill them if they resisted. A total of six students aged between six years and ten years were abused, our probe revealed so far,” said ACP Asifnagar, Mr K Ashok Chakravarthy.

The assault was highlighted after an eight-year-old boy visited his house on April 29, and informed his father about the teacher raping him at madrasa premises. The man then approached the police and lodged a formal complaint.

A report of DC says, there are 25 students in the institute and they belong to poor families. The madrasa charges no tuition fee and also provides free boarding and food to the students. A few students are from Uttar Pradesh while the others are from Telangana.

The parents told that Ansari would take one of the students in the night and sexually abuse the child in another room. A case against Ansari was registered under Section 377 (unnatural offences) of IPC and Sections 5 and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The victims were sent to Bharosa centre for counselling by professionals and their statements were recorded. Ansari assaulted most of the boys in his room at madrasa, said the ACP.
