Hyderabad: Madrassa students to get business lessons from Ivanka Trump

Mumbai: Earlier in August, PM Modi announced India and US will co-host the Global Entrepreneur Summit (GES) 2017 and this American delegation will be led by Ivanka Trump daughter of US President Donald Trump.

Ivanka will address around 1,000 entrepreneurs from across the globe at a three-day event which is scheduled from November 28-30 in Hyderabad.

A month before the American delegation, 18 selected Madarssa students will be 300 youths participating in a one-day workshop on entrepreneurship on October 27.

The workshop ‘Education to Entrepreneurship’ is part of the GES and is organized in collaboration with US Consulate General in Hyderabad, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) and The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE).

A global network of Entrepreneurs, TiE was founded back in 1992. This will be the first ever that madrassa students will be participating in an entrepreneurship workshop which will be led by TiE.

This is the first time that madrassa students will participate in a workshop on entrepreneurship and be guided by mentors from TiE, a global network of entrepreneurs founded in 1992.

Speaking about the first time Madarssa students participation in entrepreneurship workshop, MANUU’s Chancellor Zafar Sareshwala said, “When I heard that GES 2017 was being held in Hyderabad, I approached both US and Niti Aayog authorities with a plan for a workshop. Out of the 300 participants, 18 are madrassa students, who will get an opportunity to interact with business leaders”.

Five selected students will be given an opportunity to intern with world-class companies. Zafar Sareshwala, MANUU’s Chancellor, businessman, said it was wrong to say entrepreneurs are born. He said “Even madrassa students can transform ideas into businesses provided they are given right knowledge”.

A Hyderabad based Madrassa Jamiatul Mominaat Mufti Taslima Nasreen, speaking on it, said, “Exposure at the madrassas is limited to religious subjects and business education is not part of the mandate”.
