Hyderabad: Massive fire at HP godown as hundreds of cylinders explode; no casualty reported

Hyderabad: On the outskirts of Hyderabad, hundreds of cylinders exploded at the godown of Hindustan Petroleum.

According to the report published in Deccan Herald, on Thursday night, a series of explosions of gas cylinders occurred at Hindustan Petroleum godown in the Ghatkesar-Cherlapally area. Shells of exploded cylinders fell on the nearby residential areas. After the explosions, people started running from the nearby areas of the godown.

Despite the size of the mishap, it was a miraculous escape as no causality has been reported so far.

Speaking on this incident, Janardhan Reddy, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner said that the residents have been evacuated from the area. Fire tenders rushed to the spot from Cherlapally, Malkajigiri, Moula Ali, Musheerabad and Shahmeerpet.

To shift the injured to the hospital if any, five ambulances were also rushed to the area.

Rajiv Gandhi International Airport authorities were also informed to issue instructions to divert the flights flying over the funnel area.
