Hyderabad: An all-party protest rally scheduled to reach Raj Bhavan starting from Darul Shifa was foiled by police on Saturday morning.
Police deployed heavy platoons at Jamia Masjid, Darul Shifa. Many persons from various political and religious organizations had reached Darul Shifa to participate in the protest rally. Police arrested and shifted them to Kanchan Bagh Police Station.
Before the arrest, President of Muslim Shibban, Mr. Mohammed Mustaq Malik expressed his wrath at the attitude of the police and said that Govt. of Telangana is making an attempt to suppress the voice of the Muslims. He alleged that TRS party is in support of the controversial Triple Talaq Bill.
Mr. Malik further told that four days back, a letter was sent to Governor seeking appointment but there was no response. The attitude of the Govt. was suspicious about the Triple Talaq Bill but after the bill was presented in the Parliament, it was made clear that TRS party is with BJP. He applauded the efforts of Opposition Parties to stop the bill in Rajya Sabha. He demanded the Govt. of India to consult Muslim scholars and intellectuals before enacting the bill so that no conflict could arise.
Mr. Osman Shaheed Advocate told that the Triple Talaq Bill is not acceptable to the Muslims. It is in direct intervention to the Islamic Shariat which Muslims cannot tolerate.
Mr. Rasheed Shareef, TRS Leader told that he is unaware of the stand taken by TRS but he would struggle against Triple Talaq Bill in the party circles. He further told that he is ready to participate in any protest program at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi.
Mr. Abdullah Sohail, President of Minorities Cell of Congress, Maulana Syed Tariq Qadri, Maulana Naseeruddin, Mr. Sajid Shareef, Congress leader and others participated in the protest rally. All of them were arrested
