Hyderabad: Metro rail in Old City not possible before 2019, says NVS Reddy

Hyderabad: Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail Project, Mr. NVS Reddy told that the survey of the route of metro train in Old City has been completed. The decision of the Govt. either to expand road up to 80 ft. or 100 ft. is awaited. If this decision is taken, L&T will start the work.

Mr. Reddy further told that for the acquisition of land, it will take at least 6 months. In such a situation, it is not possible to start the work pertaining to metro rail in Old City before 2019. He informed that the number of commuters has increased from 20000 to 70000 daily. If metro rail is started from LB Nagar to Hi-Tech City, the number of commuters might increase. He also told that the works pertaining to Metro Rail route from Ameerpet to Hi-Tech City will be completed in October this year. It is expected that the work pertaining to Jubilee Bus Stand to MG Bus stand will be completed by next year. He further told that government intends to extend metro rail facilities up to Shamsabad and other places. The works in Ameerpet, LB Nagar, Jubilee Bus Stand and MG Bus Stand are being expedited. On asking, he said that as soon as the policy is finalized, small vehicles, autos and buses would be attached to the metro bus stops.
