A 19-year-old girl, Gopisetti Usharani, who married Gopisetti Durga Rao, two months ago, committed suicide in Somulugudem under Paloncha mandal. They were happy in the first month of their marriage. But later arguments began to take place due to Rao’s habit of drinking alcohol.
She tried to make him quit drinking but it was of no use. Rao consumed liquor even and came home in a drunk state. The couple argued and he went to sleep. She committed suicide by hanging herself when he was sleeping.
Seeing her hanging to the ceiling fan, Mr Rao decided to end his life by touching a 33 KV live wire near his house. He fell on the ground due to electric shock, sustained injuries and was shifted to the government hospital in Kothagudem where his condition is said to be critical.
Usharani’s father said that he has various doubts about his daughter’s death.
