Hyderabad: Attempts are being made to rename Hyderabad as Bhagyanagar. The trend of renaming roads and cities which were associated with Muslim names is getting the support from the Central Govt. In States where BJP is in power, the names of the cities and railway stations are being changed, as a result of which communal hatred is increasing among the citizens.
From time to time, attempts are being made to change the names of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Earlier, on the occasion of Ganesh festival, Hyderabad used to be mentioned as Bhagyanagar and Husain Sagar as Vinayak Sagar unofficially. Now, attempts are being made to confuse the minds of the residents of Hyderabad by associating Bhagyanagar with Hyderabad.
It may be mentioned that Hindutva leaders and other extremists made a demand on several occasions to change the name of Hyderabad but it did not receive the attention of secular minded citizens of the city.
Now that the name of Bhagyanagar is being publicized through the hoardings erected by Govt. of Telangana and Hyderabad Metro Rail. The citizens of Hyderabad are forced to think that an attempt is being made using Govt. resources. This will promote the evil designs of communal elements.
