Hyderabad: Plea in High Court questions drop in voter numbers

A PIL requesting the Election Commission to make public its algorithm that led to the alleged deletion of names of 27 lakh voters in Telangana state and 19 lakh in Andhra Pradesh in 2015 has been filed in Hyderabad High Court.

According to the report published in the DC, Srinivas Kodali, who is the petitioner said that in order to mislead the citizens, the EC and governments had been stating that a large number of deletions were on account of voters shifting to AP after state.

He stated that“If that were to be the case, there ought to have been an increase of voters in one of either two states, however, the number of voters has decreased in both the states.”
