Hyderabad: Police busts newborn girls trafficking racket, arrests woman

Hyderabad: Shamsabad Police arrested a woman and rescued a newborn girl from her possession.

According to the details of the case, Gangadhar Reddy, a native of East Godavari District was an ex-employee of Health Department. After losing the job, he started buying newborn girls from Govt. hospitals against huge payments.

In one such incident, Lakshmi Bai of Guntur had given birth to a baby girl. She already had three daughters. On receiving this information, Gangadhar bought this newborn girl and brought her to Hyderabad. He gave the girl to a woman by name Manga for nourishing the baby. The woman used to take care of such girls and sell them for huge amounts to the childless persons.

Police arrested Manga and sent the newborn girl to Shishu Vihar. Later, the woman was sent to judicial custody.

Police registered a case against Gangadhar Reddy and started investigations.
