Hyderabad: Police ‘cop’ strangulates father with towel

Hyderabad: In a fit of rage, a police constable in Chilkalguda Police station killed his father after an argument with his wife on Friday.

The constable identified as B Venkatesh a 2010 batch candidate attacked his father his father B Yellaiah, 58, in their rented house in Gandhi Nagar around 2 pm after quarreling with his wife.

“Yellaiah, who had finished his lunch, was washing his hand when Venkatesh lunged at him suddenly and strangled him with a towel. After strangulating him, Venkatesh stabbed his father in his chest with a knife and sat on his body,” said Musheerabad inspector M Gangadhar said.

According to Gangadhar, Venkatesh was suffering from psychological issues and was undergoing medical treatment.

Venkatesh’s father was a rickshaw puller living with him, his wife and three children.

“He was on leave for the last few days. When he was on duty, we did not encounter any complaints from colleagues or public,” said Chilkalguda inspector AC Balagangi Reddy.

The Police has now arrested Venkatesh for the crime.
