Hyderabad: Rumors create panic in city, Don’t believe: DGP urges

Hyderabad: Reacting to rumours that kidnappers and dacoits were roaming in the State, DGP M Mahender Reddy has made it clear that there were no dacoits and kidnappers in the State. He suggested to the people not to believe rumours in social media.

Exhorting the people to inform the police immediately if they encountered strangers, Mahender Reddy asked the people not to resort to attacks on suspects. The people have to dial 100 and inform about the suspects instead of attacking them. He also suggested that the people not to get panicked while believing in false news.

Addressing the media on Wednesday, Mahender Reddy said action will be initiated against those telecasting false news in the social media. He said all the news coming in social media were not true. It was not correct for the people to take law into their hands in the villages. Expressing concern over some persons creating panic in the society, Mahender Reddy warned them of severe action if they tried to take the law into their hands.

The DGP also said they were strengthening the police force across the State and informed that CCTV system was strong in the villages. He said they will alert all units in all police stations limits. He said action will be initiated against those resorting to attacks like in Bheemgal in Nizamabad district and Jiyapalli under Bibinagar Police station limits. (NSS)
