Hyderabad: School’s 40 CCTVs failed to capture watchman abusing child

Hyderabad: The School authorities who helped the city police to nab watchman Kamal Bhan after the child abuse incident came to light on October 26, commented saying “We didn’t expect this from the 30-year-old watchman who was friendly with parents”.

Sujatha School has 40 CCTVs installed at the school with 10 security guards and in spite of all this, the school authorities are shocked after such child abuse crime surfaced in their school.

According to a school official, the CCTV cameras at the school’s reception and also in the vice principal’s cabin were examined after the parents reported the authorities of the incident. He said that the authorities have also examined old records but did not find such incident caught on the school cameras.

The management said that watchman Kamal Bhan went on leave from October 16 as his mother was unwell and that the authorities only came to know about the incident on 26 October.

The authorities said, “We had sleepless nights until the watchman reached the city. We had warned all the security guards that they should not pass on the information about his arrest. When he did not come after the leave, we called him. We alerted the police after he reached the city and he was arrested by the police party, which was waiting outside the school”.

Watchman Kamal Bhan was arrested on 31 October outside the school premises.
The school’s vice-president said the state government should direct the state board to conduct the psychometric test for school staff for safety.

Adding that the school authorities have reported about the incident to the Police.
“We also held an orientation programme and counseled the fourth-grade employees. This is the first incident in our 52-year history,” she said.

The school authorities have replaced security guards and installed more CCTV camera’s in the school for extra security.
