Hyderabad: Security worried over presence of snakes near Falaknuma

Hyderabad: Ahead of Ivanka’s visit, city security personnel are now burdened over the presence of snakes around Golconda fort and Taj Falaknuma, both located in the midst of thick outgrown bushes.

Taking precautions against snakes present near both the Heritage areas, the security personnel has moved one step ahead and called in for snake catchers to be deployed in the area.

A resident of Bibi Ka Chasma Ismail says the locality has often spotted many snakes and that “We have alerted snake-catchers regarding the presence of snakes on several occasions. They catch the snakes and shift them.”

The special protection group officials who had visited Taj Falaknuma for a special inquiry into the presence of snakes around the Hotel is planning to post constables from nearby Police station to catch the snakes in the area.

P. Yadagiri, Falaknuma Inspector speaking on it said, “The hotel authorities have informed us that they have two trained snake-catchers on their rolls. They will handle any situations that may arise. There are some snake pits too.”

He added that the Police have also asked coordination of Nehru Zoological Park and the forest department officials to deploy a team of snake-catchers at the Golconda Fort, where Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is scheduled to host a dinner for the delegates.
