Hyderabad: Heavy rainfall hits the city last night, turns localities into lakes

Hyderabad: Hyderabad City witnessed sudden heavy rainfall last night which turned many localities into lakes. Municipal officials faced difficulties in attending to complaints.

Mayor of Hyderabad, Mr. Ram Mohan reached GHMC Control Room and after reviewing the weather condition appealed to the people not to come out of their houses unless unavoidable.

Madhapur, Ramachandrapuram, Trimulgherry, Malkajgiri, Golconda, Jubilee Hills recorded heavy rainfall. In Ramchandrapuram, 83.3 mm rainfall was recorded which was the highest.

In Yousufguda, Rahmat Nagar, Venkatagiri Nagar and surrounding areas, rainwater entered into houses and shops. GHMC alerted emergency squad immediately after 8 p.m.

According to Met. Office report, there is a forecast of heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours since South-West Monsoon has become active in the Bay of Bengal.
