Hyderabad: Wakf Board orders comprehensive probe to unearth NOC scam

Hyderabad: Government of Telangana has taken a serious note of NOC scam which occurred in State Wakf Board. Police has been given instructions to probe in the matter.

It may be mentioned that Wakf Board had issued NOC declaring 4 acre and 5 gunta wakf land located at Malkajgiri as private.

When Siasat Urdu Daily exposed the scam, the then CEO of Wakf Board, Mr. Mannan Farooqui denied issuing NOC and claimed that his signature has been forged.

Later, forensic report confirmed that his signature is genuine. The land grabbers who had paid a bribe of Rs. 25 lakh to the then CEO made a confession statement before the chairman of Wakf Board.

Mr. A.K. Khan, Advisor to Govt. on minority affairs told that investigations are in progress about this case. He said that he contacted Commissioner of Police, Mr. Anjani Kumar and desired to submit investigation report as early as possible. The issue of payment of bribe will also be included in the investigation.

Mr. A.K. Khan also told that the present CEO of Wakf Board is an IPS officer and he knows how to tackle such issues. If need be, the matter would be referred to ACB or CBCID.

Chairman of TS Wakf Board, Mr. Saleem had already apprised Mr. Bhupal Reddy, Secretary to CM of the case. He has also commissioned those who had offered bribe to the former CEO.

According to the report, Mr. Mannan Farooqui could not be contacted for knowing his reaction as he is in US these days.
