Hyderabadi girl sold to Dubai Sheikh rescued, reaches city safely

Hyderabad: A Hyderabadi girl was sold to a Sheik in Bahrain after she reached Dubai on the false pretext of sales job only to end up as a domestic helper.

The false job offer came through an agent in Hyderabad who sent her to Sharjah in UAE on March 18.

On her arrival in Dubai, she was initially confined in an office and was later sold to a Sheik in Bahrain.

Speaking of the ordeal she went through in a foreign country on her arrival in the foreign country, the woman said “a Sheikh bought me and took me to Bahrain. From there I was taken to Oman and kept as a domestic help.”

She added she was not given adequate food and was forced to work excessively.

Fortunately, she contacted her mother about her situation and the woman’s family contacted the Indian embassy in Muscat.

The foreign ministry was also alerted following the woman’s rescue from Sharjah.

The woman has now safely returned to Hyderabad and is all praise for External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and the Indian Embassy in Muscat for rescuing her.

“I was finally rescued and I would like to thank Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj and the Indian Embassy,” she said.

Indian Government has launched a helpline and a help center Indian Workers’ Resource Centre in Sharjah in 2017 to help out to workers trapped in UAE.

Workers trapped and willing to return or report any such incidents can reach the helpline at toll-free number (800 INDIA), DC reports.
