“I am going to shoot up a school”: US boy tells Siri, arrested

A 13-year-old boy in the US was arrested by officers from the Valparaiso police department after he told Apple’s virtual assistant Siri that he wants to shoot up a school.

Valparaiso Police in a Facebook post said that the teenager from Indiana is being interrogated after he posted his conversation with Siri on a social media platform.

The boy told Siri that “I am going to shoot up a school,” and Siri responded with a list of nearby schools in Indiana.

However, the police said that they did not believe the boy’s actions amounted to a ‘credible threat and the boy made no direct threat ” to a specific person, school, or school system. “It has since been discovered the male has no access to weapons,” police added.

At a time when the US will mark the first anniversary of Florida school shootings where seventeen students and adults were killed this incident has taken place.

According to a report by BBC, shootings in the US have become a serious issue and more than 113 people were either killed or injured due of this in 2018.

The student is under detention at the Porter County Juvenile Detention Center on the charge of intimidation.
