‘I love my Pooja,’ writes a student in UP Board’s exam; ‘Chitthi tu ja sir ke pas,’ says another

Muzaffarnagar: Attaching currency notes and making symbols on Examination answer sheets in Board’s examination may seem to become an old and ordinary thing. Now students discuss some ‘real-life problems’ with examiners with more drama and innovation.

“I love my Pooja,” wrote a student of UP Board’s intermediate exam in bold describing his own chemistry before answering his chemistry paper. “Yeh mohabbat bhi kya cheez hai, na jeene deti hai aur na marne… Sir, iss love story ne padhai se duur kar diya warna…” the student also drew the ‘painful’ arrow-pierced heart on the blank answer sheet.

Another student got ’emotional’ and wrote: “I have got no mother and my father will kill me you fail me.” One more examinee threatened to commit suicide if he gets failed. A Meerut-based government teacher on anonymity told TOI: “Most of the messages are written to attract sympathy and attaching currency notes is a regular phenomenon that has been occurring for years now.”

Muzaffarnagar district inspector of schools Munesh Kumar confirmed getting currency notes stapled with answer sheets along with some weird messages. “Guruji ko copy kholne se pehle namaskar. Guruji, pas kar dein. Chitthi tu ja sir ke pass, sir ki marzi fail karein ya pass,” wrote another examinee.

More than 60 lakh answer sheets have been evaluated since March 17, and over 5.5 crore copies of classes X and XII students are being checked by 1.46 lakh teachers. Results of Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Board exams are expected to come in the third week of April.
