Iconic Errum Manzil may soon be razed to whims of Telangana government

Hyderabad: Located on one of the most well-known roads leading from Khairtabad to Punjagutta Cross Roads and beyond the iconic Errum Manzil may disappear soon.

Owing to the whimsical plan of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao the 150-year-old Errum Manzil will be razed to the ground to construct a new Secretariat building.

Failing to make any dent with his speaking skills with the Central Government to give him the Polo Ground for the new secretariat the eyes of Chief Minister Rao have now zeroed in on Errum Manzil.

Chief Minister Rao said repeatedly before he became Chief Minister that he loves Hyderabad because of its historicity, beauty and geographical location. Now it seems he has developed negative feelings about the historical buildings of the City which is known all over the world for the 400-year-old Chairman and still older Golconda Fort.

Nawab Fakhrul Mulk, a man with a vision for Hyderabad, built several buildings in the city. One of the most important realization of his dreams is Errum Manzil. It is a palace which should be made as popular a destination as Falaknuma. But instead of doing that there are plans to take it out and build a new cement and concrete monster.

Should the people of Hyderabad allow this to happen? Shouldn’t the people of Hyderabad ask Chief Minister Rao to use his farsightedness and vision to look for some other place or open space to construct a wholly new Secretariat?
