Imam Hussein (RA) was martyred for peace and justice: PM Modi

INDORE: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday visited the Saifee Mosque in Indore to attend Ashara Mubaraka – the commemoration of the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA).

While addressing the gathering at an event organized by the Dawoodi Bohra community, the Prime Minister lauded Imam Hussain’s efforts towards establishing peace and justice across the world.

PM Modi said, “You have imbibed the holy message of Imam Hussein within you and have sent it across the World. Imam Hussein was martyred for peace and justice. He raised his voice against injustice. This lesson by him is more important today than it was earlier.”

He said that the Dawoodi Bohra community, a sect within the Ismaili branch of Shia Muslims, has shown us the path of righteousness with their doctrines of peace, unity and patriotism.

“With their doctrines of peace, unity, and patriotism, the Dawoodi Bohra community has shown us the path of righteousness. The community is inspiring the youths in the country,” the Prime Minister said while addressing a religious congregation of the community here at the Saifee Mosque on the occasion of ‘Ashara Mubaraka’.

Recalling his long-standing relationship with the Bohra community, the Prime Minister said: “It is my good fortune that I have received the affection of the Bohra community. The community even assisted me during my tenure as Gujarat’s chief minister. It is the sheer affection shown by you people that has brought me here today.”

‘Ashara Mubaraka’ is observed at the beginning of the Islamic year and is organized to commemorate the martyrdom of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH)’s grandson Imam Hussain.

Apart from Prime Minister Modi, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, spiritual head of the Dawoodi Bohra community Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin and scores of community members were also present at the event.
