Impact of Siasat News: FIR registered to probe Wakf Board Scam

Hyderabad: On exposing the NOC issued by Wakf Board declaring Wakf property as private land by Siasat Urdu Daily created panic in Wakf Board office on Saturday. In a meeting of Wakf Board held under the chairmanship of Mr. Mohammed Saleem, the members sought clarification from CEO of Wakf Board, Mr. Mohammed Abdul Mannan Farooqui.

A letter was issued on 26th May 2017 with the signature of Mr. Farooqui addressed to Collector of Malkajgiri. When asked, Mr. Farooqui could not give satisfactory replies. Observing the unclear replies of Mr. Farooqui, Wakf Board decided to refer the matter to police for investigation. Abids Police registered an FIR. In addition to it, a decision was taken to request the Govt. for CBI probe.

Wakf Board constituted a three-member committee consisting of Mr. Malik Mutasim Khan, Mr. Mirza Anwar Baig and Dr. Sofia Begum.

When CEO was asked to offer his explanation, Mr. Mannan Farooqui told that he had not issued any NOC and the signature on the letter sent to Collector of Malkajgiri has been superimposed by using computer technique.

On preliminary inquiries, the Board found that there is no file pertaining to this case. It is understood that wakf mafia in connivance with Wakf Board officials, got prepared a fake NOC and affixed CEO’s signature on it.

In the letter, it was mentioned that in Malkajgiri under survey number 3, four-acre and five gunta land does not belong to Wakf Board whereas it is registered under Dargah Hazrat Meer Mahmood Wakf. A gazette notification was also released in which it was stated that this land does not belong to Wakf Board. A clarification has been sought from the Govt. Department which submitted a proposal for the release of gazette notification.

The news of this scam published in Siasat Urdu Daily was predominantly discussed in the Wakf Board meeting. Talking to newsmen later, the chairman of Wakf Board, Mr. Mohammed Saleem told that the CEO has clarified that no file pertaining to this case reached him. Therefore, there is no question of affixing his signature on it.

Mr. Mohammed Saleem further told that such files are routed through the chairman of Wakf Board but no such file was submitted to him. He also told that a copy of the resolution passed by Wakf Board on Saturday is being sent to CM, CS and Secretary of the Dept. of Minorities Welfare. Govt. is requested to initiate CBI probe. A decision was also taken in the Wakf Board meeting to examine all the NOCs issued by Wakf Board since 1969. Anyone who is found guilty would be punished.
