India summons Pakistan Deputy HC over killing of three minors

New Delhi [India]:The Ministry of External Affairs on Tuesday summoned Pakistan’s Deputy High Commissioner Syed Haider Shah to India and issued a demarche over the death of three minor children in an unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistan forces in the Poonch sector on October 2.

It was conveyed that such deliberate targeting of civilians was unacceptable and against humanitarian norms and practices.

A strong concern was also expressed at the continued unprovoked firing by Pakistan forces across the Line of Control and the International Boundary in violation of the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding. The ministry said 503 such violations have been carried out by Pakistan forces so far during 2017.

The Indian Army gave a befitting reply to unprovoked firing when Pakistani troops targetted dozens of villages and posts in Shahpur, Kerni and Kasaba sector in the early hours of Monday , resulting in the death of the three children and injuries to eight other civilians.

Reacting to the spurt in ceasefire violations by Pakistan, Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh said, “Pakistan is a country of cowards. On the one hand, they show white flags while on the other, they target civilians.”(ANI)
