‘India will become Hindu Pakistan, if BJP wins again’ Cong MP Shashi

New Delhi: Taking a jab at BJP for its Hindutva ideology, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on Wednesday said if BJP wins 2019 elections then India will become Hindu Pakistan where equality among majority and minority communities will no longer exist.

Addressing an event in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday, the senior Congress leader also warned against BJP writing in a new constitution which will have no equality for minorities and will become a complete Hindu Nation, News Nation reported.

“If they (BJP) win a repeat in the Lok Sabha our democratic constitution as we understand it will not survive as they will have all the elements they need to tear apart the constitution of India and write a new one,” he said.

“That new one will be the one which will enshrine principles of Hindu Rashtra, that will remove equality for minorities, that’ll create a Hindu Pakistan and that isn’t what Mahatma Gandhi, Nehru, Sardar Patel, Maulana Azad and great heroes of freedom struggle fought for,” he added.

“They already have more than 20 states under their belt, so a Rajya Sabha majority looks near. Now if they could muster what they managed during the last Lok Sabha polls, India is done for,” Tharoor claims.

Shashi Tharoor’s statements has stirred controversies with BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra demanding an apology from Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi.

Responding to Tharoor’s statements, Patra told: “Rahul Gandhi must apologise for what Shashi Tharoor said. Congress was responsible for the creation of Pakistan because of its ambitions yet again it has gone ahead to demean India and defame Hindus of India”.
