Hyderabad: Despite stringent laws against dowry harassment, the incidents of deaths on account of dowry demands are occurring.
In one such incident, a seven month pregnant woman committed suicide due to dowry harassment.
According to the report of Balapur Police, R. Rajita (23) who was the resident of Malapur consumed poison on 10th June. Later, she was rushed to hospital where she died during the treatment yesterday.
It is reported that Rajita had got married in 2018. On account of her seven months’ pregnancy, a conflict emerged on the issue of performing Srinatham celebrations. She also faced dowry harassment.
Vexed with this, she took this extreme step.
In another similar incident which occurred in Jawahar Nagar Police Station area, Kalyani (28), wife of Srikanth committed suicide. Her husband and in-laws were harassing her for getting more dowry.
Police registered these two cases and started investigations.
