Hyderabad: Tuesday was the last day to file nominations for Telangana Waqf Board elections. 9 nomination papers were filed in Member of assembly & council, bar council member, Mutavalli and Managing Committee categories. Thus interesting poll battle is likely in Mutavalli and Managing Committee categories. 2 members are elected in these categories. Government is trying hard to get its favourite candidate elected.
TRS MLC Mr. Mohammed Saleem and MIM MLA Mr. Moazzam Khan filed nominations under floor member category. Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali, MLC Mohammed Farooq Husain others accompanied Mohammed Saleem while Mohammed Moazzam was accompanied was accompanied by MIM MLAs. Z A Javeed filed nominations under Bar Council category. 5 nominations were filed under Mutavalli and Managing Committee category. Maulana Syed Shah Akber Nizamuddin Husaini Saberi filed 2 separate nominations on behalf of Dargah Hazrat Shah Khamosh and Waqf Kalimia Noor Khan Bazar. Maulana Qubool Pasha Shuttari, Maulana Siddique Husain, Maulana Israr Husain Rizvi, Maulana Fazalullah Quadri, Maulana Zaheeruddin Ali Sufi, Maulana Nizamuddin Narooni, Maulana Wasiullah Quadri, Akram Pasha, Muneeruddin Mukhtar and others were present on the occasion.
Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi is sure to be elected unopposed under MP category as he is the only Muslim MP of the state. Elections are scheduled for January 10.
