International magazine removes article calling Priyanka Chopra ‘a scam artist’

New Delhi [India], Dec 05 (ANI): After widespread criticism by Bollywood celebrities, an international magazine removed its article which termed Priyanka Chopra as a “global scam artist” following her marriage to American singer Nick Jonas.

The magazine published its article claiming that Priyanka tricked Jonas into a lifetime commitment.

Bollywood celebrities and family members of the couple took to Twitter to criticise the article.

Slamming the article on social media Priyanka Chopra’s brother-in-law Joe Jonas posted on Twitter, “This is disgusting. @TheCut should be ashamed to have someone write such evil words. What Nick & Pri have is Beautiful Love. Thank u, Next.”

Joe Jonas’ fiance Sophie Turner also criticised the publication and tweeted, “This is wildly inappropriate and totally disgusting. Very disappointed that The Cut would give anyone a platform to spew such bullshit.” Joe and Sophie also attended the wedding reception in Delhi yesterday.

Sonam Kapoor took to her official Twitter handle to express her rage over the article, and wrote, “For a publication that “shows women’s what they are made of” @TheCut has a lot to answer for . The article on @priyankachopra was sexist , racist and disgusting. Also it’s written by a woman which is so sad. It reeks of envy and bitterness. @mRiah shame on you!”

Swara Bhasker too slammed the absurdly offensive article, writing, “Depressed with the state of the world & current affairs? Here’s some good ol’ fashioned puerile filth published by @TheCut 2 add some pointless venom 2 ur day. Also someone invite @mRiah to an Indian wedding Might assuage some of her misguided angst! #yellowjournalism .”

Singer Sona Mohapatra also expressed her disappointment and tweeted, “Deeply disgusting. To character assassinate a hardworking, driven, achiever like Priyanka Chopra in this warped, petty manner & for @TheCut to publish such a low-brow piece is the lowest of the lows. “Priyanka’s plan to make this Nick Jonas opportunity her forever bitch” ?!!? Sick.”

According to media reports, the article, titled as ‘Is Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’s Love for Real?’ suggested that Priyanka was a gold digger and further claimed that Priyanka and Nick’s wedding was just a way for them to make money.

The article has been highly criticised on social media by many people, accusing it of being racist, sexist and baseless.

However, the magazine has now removed the piece and apologised for the same on their official website. “Upon further editorial review, we found this story did not meet our standards. We’ve removed it and apologize,” the website mentioned. [source_without_link]ANI[/source_without_link]
