Interpol issues Red corner Notice against Nirav’s Sister

New Delhi: Red Corner Notice has been issued against Purvi Modi the sister of Belgian national and absconding Jeweller Nirav Modi by the Interpol, officials confirmed today.

The Interpol’s notice states 44-year-old Purvi is wanted on charges of money laundering in connection with the alleged USD 2 billion PNB money laundering case, DC reported.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has requested the RCN against her as the ED wants her to join the investigations.

According to the Interpol notice, Purvi speaks English, Gujarati and Hindi and is a Belgian national and once an RCN is issued against a fugitive, the Interpol asks its 192 member countries to arrest or detain the person if he/she is spotted in their countries after which extradition or deportation proceedings can begin.

A similar Interpol RCN was recently issued against Mihir R Bhansali, a top executive of Nirav Modi’s US business on similar charges of money laundering and sometime back was also issued against Nirav Modi but so far there are no new developments reported in the investigations jointly carried out by ED and CBI.
