Interpol ‘red notice’ for PML-N UC chairman over alleged murder

Rawalpindi: The Interpol on Friday issued a red notice to a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz UC chairman for allegedly killing a journalist.

The Dawn reported that the Federal Investigation Agency had sought Interpol’s help to arrest Imran Cheema aka Mani, chairman of the Begowal Union Council, who is wanted by the Sialkot police.

Mani is the prime suspect in the murder of Zeeshan Butt, who worked for an Urdu newspaper.

According to media reports, Mani had left for Dubai after killing Butt in the Sambrial tehsil of Sialkot, earlier in March.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar had taken suo motu notice of the killing.

He had directed Punjab IG Arif Nawaz to submit a progress report on the matter within ten days.

Further, three suspects have been arrested by the police in connection with the murder.
