IPL 2018: Rashid Khan says ‘NO’ to champagne post SRH’s victory celebration

NEW DELHI: A video of Rashid Khan refuses to have Champagne post SunRisers Hyderabad’s victory over KKR in IPL 2018 qualifier is gaining many hearts all over the world.

In the video, the sensational player from Afghanistan, who was named Man of The Match for his destructive performance against Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday can be seen celebrating the win at the hotel with his teammates.

After chopping the cake with a congratulatory message written on it, an SRH member offered him champagne, which the 19-year old leggie flatly refuses to touch. As per Islam, alcohol is forbidden and Rashid being a Muslim obliged to it and is not allowed promote or endorse alcohol brand.

His simplicity and his gestures have won hearts and gained tremendous respect from the fans across the globe.

This is not the first time when a cricketer has refused to have alcohol during the celebrations after the victory. The likes of Moeen Ali, Hashim Amla and even England spinner Adil Rashid have never promote or endorse alcohol brand and they also stay away from the team during the celebrations.

Rashid did everything against KKR to carry his side to victory. He hammered 34 runs in 10 balls and defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Qualifier 2 of Indian Premier League 2018 (IPL 2018).

After watching Rashid Khan mesmerise the KKR, not only his team SRH but everyone will be looking at him to take the final to greater heights. He is the IPL star of this season.

At the IPL auction, Rashid was snapped up by SRH for Rs 4 crores ($597,000) and they now find every rupee and cent they spent on him is well worth it. He is so unassuming that he does his work quietly without attracting undue attention. His twirling finger is all that he enjoys after taking a wicket.
