Uttar Pradesh: Surendra Kumar Das, the 2014-batch IPS officer had allegedly consumed poison due to marital disagreements, continued to be very critical. He is on a ventilator for respiratory support and the next 36 hours are very crucial.

A suicide note was recovered from the spot where the officer was found unconscious and it is being sent to the hand-writing experts for examination. As of now, his treatment is going on with the help of an advanced medical setup EMCO, used for critically-ill patients of poisoning.

Investigations so far indicate that the officer searched the Google for ways to commit suicide, he was in extreme depression for the past few days. He consumed sulphas powder that he had asked his domestic help to bring from the market for killing rats.

He had an argument with his wife and did not talk to his mother for the past 40 days, the SSP said, adding the police will soon inquire with his wife and other family members regarding it.
