Jagan agrees with KCR move for Federal Front

Hyderabad: Welcoming the move of federal front by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao against the Congress and BJP at the Centre, YSRCP Chief and Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Assembly YS Jaganmohan Reddy today stressed the need for increasing the number of MP seats to fight for States’ issues. “We have discussed with KTR on the federal front and injustices being meted out to the States by the Centre. We have to appreciate the efforts of TRS president KCR and we will further discuss on federal front proposal”, he added.

Addressing a joint press conference along with TRS working president KT Rama Rao at his Lotus Pond residence after their meeting on the federal front, Jaganmohoan Reddy said the Centre will yield if the States join hands on their issues. The States have to join hands to resolve their issues at the national level, he said and expressed displeasure that the Centre was ignoring the special status to Andhra Pradesh despite promise made by then prime minister and fight by 25 MPs in Parliament.

“There is an imperative need for the States to join together as the BJP Government at the Centre was remaining mum on the promise of the previous government in Parliament. If 17 MPs of Telangana and 25 MPs of Andhra Pradesh come together, we can exert pressure on the Centre to fight on our issues and KCR efforts in this regard are appreciable”, he said. This is a primary meeting and things will shape up followed by next level meetings by KCR, he added.

Earlier, KTR said as per the directive of KCR, the TRS met with Jaganmohan Reddy on federal front at national level and sought Jagan’s support for resolving State-level issues. He said they have discussed on the federal front alternative against the Congress and the BJP and will meet further, he said. KTR also promised to lend support towards special category status for Andhra Pradesh and pointed out that TRS MPs have already raised their voice in Parliament supporting the cause of Andhra Pradesh.

Those who attended the meeting were: TRS leaders B Vinod Kumar, MP, YSRCP leaders, MP Vijay Sai Reddy, YV Subba Reddy, S Ramakrishna Reddy, Partha Sarathi, Ch Bhasker Reddy, Mithun Reddy, V Prabhakar Reddy and others.
