Jain accountant of all black deeds of Delhi government: BJP leader

New Delhi: The BJP Delhi unit on Wednesday described Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Satyendar Jain as the “accountant of all the black deeds of the Delhi government”, soon after the CBI registered a case against him for alleged violation of norms in hiring a creative team in the department.

Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Manoj Tiwari said that during the last three years, the people of Delhi and the country have seen the “silence” of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on cases of corruption against his party leaders and family members.

“But the case of Jain is quite different. Kejriwal cannot take any action against Jain because he is the accountant of all the black deeds of the Delhi government,” Tiwari, who represents the northeast Delhi seat in the Lok Sabha, alleged.

“If he reveals the truth, then legal action will certainly be taken against AAP leaders, including the Chief Minister,” the BJP leader claimed.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) earlier on Wednesday raided the residence of the Minister over alleged violation of norms in hiring a creative team in the PWD and registered a case.

The agency registered the case against Jain, then PWD Engineer-in-Chief S.K. Srivastava and others.

The CBI team carried out searches at four-to-five locations in Delhi, including the residences of PWD officials and others.

In 2017, the agency initiated a preliminary probe into the hiring of 24 architects in the PWD’s creative team for various projects, including Mohalla Clinics.

Attacking the Chief Minister for not taking any action against his Minister, Tiwari said: “The continuance of Jain in the Delhi Cabinet even after a criminal case against him is against democratic traditions.”

The BJP leader said that it seemed that in the last three years in office, Kejriwal “may not have learnt anything”.

“But he has learnt the art of protecting corruption with the help of his friendship with RJD leader Lalu Prasad and Karnataka’s H.D. Kumaraswamy and others,” he added.
