Jamia Millia Islamia launches ‘JMI Jal’

New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) now has opened up ‘JMI Jal’ under which it will make available drinking water and bakery products for its teachers and students.

The products launched by the university, on Monday, are produced at the Livelihood Business Incubator (LBI) of the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE). The products are made by the underprivileged and school drop-outs under the university’s skill training programme.

Under the ASPIRE scheme of the ministry of micro small and medium enterprises (MSME), the university has been conducting training programmes in bakery, tailoring, PET bottle making, packaged drinking water, paper disposables, computer hardware and networking, beautician training and digital printing. The ASPIRE scheme was launched by the Central government.

A new outlet, JMI Baker’s and Café has been opened on the campus to sell the products. Jamia Vice-Chancellor Talat Ahmad inaugurated the outlet.
