Jamia students protesting against HoD of harassment roughed up

NEW DELHI: Women students studying Applied Art at Jamia Millia Islamia protesting against a professor of alleged sexual harassment since January 31 said to have been roughed up on Thursday by the supporters of the accused.

Head of Department (HoD), Hafeez Ahmed accused of misbehaving with female students and passing lewd comments, an allegation denied by him by saying, “I am innocent.”

A second-year student of Fine Arts said that around 10 supporting student, some of them were the seniors attacked a girl who is now hospitalized and undergoing treatment.

“Another female student was groped and attacked by the HoD supporters,” she alleged as per report published in a leading daily.

Azeem Ahmed, Jamia Public Relation officer said that such kind of attacks does not take place in the campus. No complaint have been received neither by the Jamia not by the police.
