Jammu and Kashmir: 13 shops damaged after landslide hits Doda

Doda: Around 13 shops were damaged in Bathri market of Bhalessa area after a landslide occurred in Doda district at around 4 am on Wednesday.

No loss of life has been reported yet. The spot of the landslide is 60 kms away from the Doda town.

“The landslide occurred around 4 am today. Our jawans immediately rushed to the spot. No casualties have been reported,” SSB commandant Ajay Kumar said.

The locals said that the landslide felt like an earthquake.

The state of Jammu and Kashmir is prone to several natural disasters including earthquake and landslides. A survey that was undertaken by the Geological Survey of India to map the area had termed the state as highly vulnerable to landslides.
