Welcoming the High Court verdict on two Congress MLAs’ expulsion case, CLP leader K Jana Reddy demanded that the State government implement the High Court verdict restoring membership of the two MLAs. He also asked Speaker S Madhusudana Chary to protect the dignity of the legislature.
Speaking to the media here on Monday after High Court’s verdict, Jana Reddy demanded that the State government convene the Assembly to amend Panchayat Raj Act. He informed that he addressed a letter to the State government stating that the TRS government was resorting to vengeful acts against Congress leaders and demanding it to provide security to Komatireddy Venkat Reddy.
It may be mentioned here that the High Court single bench delivered verdict in favour of expelled Congress MLAs—Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and SA Sampath Kumar. Challenging the single bench verdict, 12 TRS MLAs filed a petition in division bench. But the High Court dismissed their petition stating that the petition was not valid one and upheld the single bench verdict.
On the other hand, Congress MLAs council argued that the TRS MLAs filed petition with political motives. It may be mentioned here that the Speaker expelled two Congress MLAs saying that they resorted to attack using head phones during budget session. With the latest verdict, Komatireddy and Sampath will continue as MLAs.
Reacting to a question, Jana rejected the allegations that the Congress party failed to face the expulsion of MLAs affectively. He said that Komatireddy didn’t ask him on en mass resignations. “I would have tendered my resignation first if the party high command directed them to tender resignations en mass. Some of our leaders might be criticised the leadership in pressure or unhappiness conditions. I will not found fault with them. I will examine the possibilities to initiate action as per law on behalf of CLP. We will take decision after discussing in the party to respond harshly in regard to expulsion of MLAs. We will step ahead following the directions of high command. Resignations issue didn’t come for discussion among us. I am ready to tender my resignation first if the party high command takes decision. Komatireddy didn’t tell about resignations issue. I am condemning if anyone says that Komatireddy discussed with us on en mass resignations. I am ready for anything. It is not correct to speak against me in that manner. The KCR government’s vengeful acts, unethical and suppressive attitude towards all was same. I am not exceptional in this regard. The TRS Government was trying to suppress political parties and individuals”, he explained. (NSS)
