Jazeera flight catches fire after landing in RGIA

Hyderabad: Nearly 150 passengers including crew members of Jazeera flight No J9 608 a flight that took off from Kuwait to Hyderabad, miraculously escaped tragedy after the plane caught fire soon after it landed at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) here in Shamshabad today.

The incident was confirmed by the airport official who said the engine in the right wing caught fire due to some technical problems while approaching the parking area, The Hindu reported.

The aircraft landed around 1.33 a.m. and the crew noticed the fire around 1.36 a.m.

Fire tenders were immediately rushed to the plane while the captain turned off the engine.

All the passengers have been safely evacuated, the official added.
