Watch: Jewelers shot dead on CCTV, CM Adityanath assigns case to police chief

LUCKNOW: CCTV footage of the incident has got the attention of UP Chief Minister Yogi Aditya Nath when two jewellers were shot dead by robbers on Monday evening in Mathura. The CM has directed the police chief to investigate the reason of no arrests till now.

According to the state minister Shrikant Sharma, who is a lawmaker from Mathura, Adityanath showed anger in the UP assembly.

“I want to assure the house that the rule of law will prevail in Uttar Pradesh. There will be absolutely no protection for criminals in the state,” said the Chief Minister, whose party BJP stressed on a crime-free UP during their poll campaign, as per a report by NDTV.

The robbery took place on a day opposition lawmakers in the assembly used a very unruly way of protesting against what they called lawlessness in the state – by throwing posters and paper missiles at Governor Ram Naik, shouting slogans and standing on their seats.

The footage showed that a masked man slid a door open and pointed a gun at the men inside the jewellery shop. More robbers entered while covering their faces with helmets, following which there was a fight between the robbers and the staff.

Three men collapsed and robbers entered the showroom stepping on them.

Senior police officer Vinod Kumar Mishra said that two of them had been killed while two others suffered bullet wounds and are in the hospital.

The police informed that six armed men came on bikes for the robbery and looted money and gold worth Rs 4 crores.

The police have been hunting for the robbers and the borders of the districts are sealed.

On the other hand, the opposition party has criticised the new government for failing to check the crimes.

A 45-year-old trader in Gorakhpur was stopped on his way home by bikers who shot him dead and fled with around Rs. 8 lakh in cash last week.
