J&K: Ex CM Mufti lauds Pak PM’s offer to open shrines for devotees

Srinagar: J&K former CM and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday welcomed Pakistan’s initiative on peace talks by offering to open several holy shrines for majority Hindu devotees as well as minority devotees including the Shardapeeth.

The PDP chief tweeted: “Great initiative of offering peace through these channels. PM @narendramodi ji should consider the offer by PakPM (Pakistan Prime Minister) @ImranKhanPTI for the opening of SharadaPeeth in Kashmir, Katasraj & other shrines too this will certainly bridge the gap & usher peace in region.”

Earlier Pakistan’s PM Imran Khan while addressing the media during an interaction with Indian journalists had reportedly said: “We can consider other proposals, including opening up travel for the Sharada Peeth in Kashmir, Katasraj and other Hindu shrines too,” TOI reports.

Cautioning about hawks on either side who do not want peace talks to begin between the two countries she said they should be sidelined for the new beginning in peace initiation between India and Pakistan.
