J&K Guv takes note of Sharda University clash; asks Yogi to ensure safety of Kashmiri students

Srinagar: Taking serious note of the Sharda University clash, Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik on Friday urged Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to ensure the safety of Kashmiri students. A Kashmiri student was beaten up during a clash between Indian and Afghanistan student groups at the Sharda University in Greater Noida.

According to sources, UP government has ordered an inquiry into the incident. Adityanath is said to have assured the governor that strict disciplinary action would be taken against the accused students and necessary measures would be taken to ensure the safety of Kashmiri students.

Over 350 students have been booked by the police for rioting and related offences. 3 students were suspended by the university while show-cause notices have been issued to 10 others who were involved in the scuffle.
