JNU to scrap Arabic & Persian courses

New Delhi: In a letter sent to the foreign language centre of Jawaharlal Nehru University it was mentioned that no one will be given admission in foreign language from next year. Though prospectus has not been issued so far, it is to be implemented from next year. Foreign languages also include Arabic and Persian apart from European languages.

Students coming from Islamic madrasas have been benefiting from the course. Several students have done BA MA and MPhil and even PhD in Arabic and Persian.

Students union have dubbed the decision of the administration as Hitler Farman. They announced to move to court against the decision. It is said that a large number of students take admission in Arabic and Persian language. The number of Muslim students taking admission in the university will heavily come down if the decision is implemented.
