Kakatiya University taken decision to change the norms for PhD admission

Warangal Urban: Kakatiya University standing committee has taken a decision to change the norms related to admissions into PhD programmes for the year 2015-16 based on a report given by a five-member sub-committee including deans of different departments, which was appointed on November 7.
The committed was formed to look into the representation submitted by some students to change the norms related to admissions into PhD programmes.
According to Telangana Today Vice-Chancellor R Sayanna told that candidates who had completed post-graduation before 2015-16 had to submit fresh applications as per changed norms. Students who passed PG after 2015-16 need not submit fresh applications.
The VC, however, appealed to the student community to not get carried away by rumours that authorities were not keen on conducting admissions. “We will complete process at the earliest. Don’t believe in the rumours that the admission process would be cancelled,” the VC added. Fresh norms and dates for submitting application would be announced in two or three days.
As many of the student union leaders scored less marks, they had been mounting pressure on the university authorities through different channels to change the guidelines of admissions and restore the old norms as per which marks obtained in the entrance exam had very less weightage.
Entrance exam for admissions into M Phil and Ph D courses for the academic year 2015-16 and 2016-17 were conducted on April 11 and 12. While 1,498 candidates appeared for the M Phil entrance exam, 8,571 candidates wrote the Ph D entrance exam and over 3,000 qualified the exam.
The varsity authorities have already lowered the minimum eligibility marks from 35 to 20 for the BC category students following the pressure from BC students.
