Karnataka Elections: BJP reportedly strikes secret deal with JD (S), eyes on Congress votes

Hyderabad: A secret deal between BJP and JD (S) has been exposed. It is understood that both these parties have prepared a joint strategy to damage the traditional vote bank of Congress. This deal would be implemented in the next two weeks vehemently.

According to authentic sources, after the expiry of the last date of filing nominations, the workers of both the parties would reach every nook and corner of the State to launch a campaign against Congress. It is being said that the only support for BJP to stabilize its rule in Karnataka is JD (S).

It may be noted that BJP is making an attempt to support AIDMK in Tamil Nadu. The same strategy is being adopted to support JD (S) in Karnataka so that the Muslims are kept in the dark.

According to the internal survey conducted by BJP, it is likely that it may capture 25-30 percent Muslim votes depriving Congress. As per this estimate, 20-25 Assembly seats would be affected. BJP is certain that it cannot reach the portals of power without the support of JD (S). It has already planned for Hung Assembly in which case, it will form the government with the support of JD (S). How far this secret plan would be effective, time alone would decide. In various media circles, the news of the alleged secret pact between BJP and JD (S) has been appearing.

Political Analysts consider D. Kumara Swami, son of former PM, Mr. Deve Gowda as the champion of B Team of the BJP.

It may be mentioned that in 2006, BJP and JD (S) were the ruling parties in Karnataka. Muslim United Front and other religious and voluntary organization have declared their support to Congress in order to stop BJP from assuming power. Whenever Mr. Kumara Swami invited minority leaders to muster their support, they demanded Kumara Swami to give in writing an assurance that in case of Hung Assembly, JD (S) will not support BJP. Mr. Kumara Swami and Mr. Deve Gowda visited many districts of the State but when this question was posed to them, they set it aside by saying that such decision would be taken after the results of the Assembly polls. By seeing this stand of JD (S), Muslims are sure that Mr. Deve Gowda has joined hands with BJP. Had JD (S) been really secular, its leaders would have given such assurance.

With the support of TRS and its ally MIM to JD (S), Muslims are irritated. They assume that KCR has paved way for BJP to stabilize its rule in Karnataka. KCR’s recent efforts for the formation of Third Front also speak of his proximity to BJP. This is the reason why Ms. Mamata Banerjee and Mr. Naveen Patnaik did not support his move.

There are reports that TRS and MIM leaders have been invited to campaign in support of JD (S). On the other side TDP has intensified its campaign among the Telugu voters of the State which may benefit Congress directly. It seems that due to the efforts TRS and TDP, votes of Telugu speaking voters would get divided.
